Composition

I was privileged to hear a wonderful lecture by Interior Designer Michael Simon last week at the General Society of Mechanics and Tradesmen's marvelous artisan's series.  Michael Simon, "composer turned designer," stressed composition in interiors, music and design.  Mr. Simon's slide and music lecture illustrated his enormous artistic talents and made me once again think composition: the framework of all art.  To view Michael Simon's magnificent interiors visit http://www.michaelsimoninc.com/main.html

New Exhibit in Bethlehem, NH: July

I will have the pleasure and honor of exhibiting my photographs of the beautiful, historic and architecturally eclectic town of Bethlehem, NH at the Colonial Theatre on Main Street in Bethlehem this July, 2012.  I have been a summer resident of Bethlehem since 1975 when my parents relocated to this magnificent place in the heart of the White Mountains.  The wealth of styles and building materials used for homes and other structures in the area is dazzling!  My exhibition will be capped by a joint reception hosted by the Colonial Theatre and the Bethlehem Hebrew Congregation on July 24 at which time I will speak in the theatre about my architectural photography.

Point of View

Walking in NYC yesterday to meet a friend for dinner and a concert.  Looking forward to a lovely evening (It was!) when the Chrysler Building came into view: several different ways.  Which looks best?  How do you shoot an icon to give it a new look or not?  I LOVE looking at different angles &....well, seeing the possibilities.

NYC Bus Riding

One of the joys of being in NYC (or any other place that has public transportation available) is getting on a bus with a camera!  The perspective is so different from taking shots on the street.  This building was one I had always meant to photograph: a stately upper East Side bank.......shot from the Bronx bound Madison Avenue BxM11 bus.  It was taken with my trusty Canon G6 in RGB and later processed in Photoshop.

My publisher, Fairfield Art Publishing, requested that I license new photographs to them for publication as poster art for the wall art, home furnishings and decor industries.  I am glad that my photographs are available for many people to enjoy in their homes or offices or any public place they frequent. 

Art Rush

Tuesday, April 3, was an Art Rush!  At 1PM Brooklyn College's Gallery 3160 hosted my Wall Street photographs with a wonderful opening.  The black and white and sepia photographs of Wall Street will be at the Gallery through April.  Curator Madeline Appell, herself a fabric artist and quilter whose art is currently on display at the Brooklyn Central Library,  hung the show beautifully.  I majored in photography as part of my BA at Brooklyn College so this was a real homecoming for me!

In the evening, I attended my friend Ben Jones' marvelous exhibit at Jadite Galleries in midtown Manhattan.  Ben is a superb artist and an amazing person.  I am honored to be represented by the same gallery!  Ben's exhibit is magnificent!  For more of Ben's art visit: www.benjones.net
