Light and Shadow

Light and shadow provide many beautiful and interesting aspects of a photograph.  The light can bring forth forms, while the shadows create hiding places.  The lightest light and the darkest dark have many tonalities between them.  The relationships of lights to lights; darks to darks and ultimately light to shadow are marvelous.

Photography tip: Find a common thread in the work.  In this case, it is the grid of light and shadow

    Love the shot. Great image to illustrate the principle. fyi - when I click on the image to enlarge it, there is no way to get back to the blog....back button is inactive.

    I like the way the shadows form a grid over the scene; it creates an air of mystery. The broad range of tonality creates a scene that invites the viewer to look into the shadows and wonder what may be hiding in them. It is a very compelling and introspective image.
